This is one of the sugar maples that we used to tap for making maple sugar. I checked the tree to see if there were any tap holes still evident after nearly 20 years, and sure enough, I found one. You can barely see it in the picture, but it's there, nearly healed over by the bark. I sure miss the taste of maple sap dripping from the tap in the tree!
