Mama's Little Helper
Some may call it child labor...I call it "helping!" Lissette loves to help me do certain chores around the house. She's learning how to vacuum & has a hard time maneuvering the thing, but loves to vacuum "just a little bit." She really enjoys helping in the kitchen. It takes a lot more patience on my part because it really slows me down, but I figure that she's learning valuable skills like counting, measuring, & acquiring fine motor skills.
I recently purchased online, a book that I was told, will help me teach my kids to do chores. I loved the whole premise & decided to buy the book. I haven't read a lot of the book yet, but the idea is that the kids get cards with their chores written or illustrated on the front, they are kept in a pouch which is placed in a good area or clipped to the child's shirt. As each chore is finished they remove the card from the pouch & they give it to you to be placed in another pocket for finished chores. It's a very visual system & sounds like it'll cause less fighting over the routine. If you're interested in the book, I got it from: www.titus2.com & it's called "Managers of Their Chores."
